Strolling Around Niche’s Nook with Jason Binn

By Jeremy

I was in the neighborhood (and a nice neighborhood it is — 20th and Park Ave South), so I thought I’d pay my friends at Niche Media a visit. They own two floors at 257 Park Ave South, but are moving soon to Tribeca.

As you may know, Niche is moving pretty fast these days. As always, there have been lots of parties, but there have also been launches (Trump — read more here), acquisitions, partnerships, and, of course, plans for the move. All this activity shows in the office, which is bustling, bursting at the seams, and busy (weak ending, I know, but I was going for the alliterative trifecta).

Binn gave me a personal tour in which he stopped multiple times to talk with editors, designers, sales people, and VP/publishing directors of Gotham Mag, Christina Greeven Cuomo. Niche is Binn’s little empire, and he’s incredibly involved in the business, as it should be.

The great thing about magazine media is that our products are manifestations of our personalities. Sure, the editor may have more to say than anyone, but everyone is in on the conversation. I have lots more to say on this subject. I’ll save it for a later post.

Ps – As I said, the office at Niche is bursting at the seams. That company must be growing incredibly fast: They cannot fit one more person in that space…and they have two floors! It’s good to see that print based businesses can still grow.
